A recent shopping spree for local elementary school kids wasmade possible by the Lansing, Mich.-based AsteraCredit Union.

The $152 million cooperative said it presented a check for $854to the Grand Ledge Shopping Tour, a nonprofit organization thattakes local elementary students shopping for school clothes andChristmas presents.

The presentation marks Astera's second year raising funds forthe tour. Dana Hartwick, senior teller at Astera's Marketplacebranch, has spearheaded the credit union's fundraising efforts bothyears by organizing candy sales, bake sales and rafflecontests.

Hartwick is already planning fundraising opportunities for nextyear's Grand Ledge Shopping Tour, according to the creditunion.
