The $6.9 billion, 923,000-member Security Service Federal CreditUnion in San Antonio said Monday it has promoted Jim Laffoon topresident.

SSFCU said Laffoon will be responsible for daily operations andleadership and strategic direction for the credit union's more than1,600 employees as it continues to grow in Texas, Colorado andUtah.

David Reynolds, who has led SSFCU since 1997, will remain CEOand continue to represent the credit union in industry, trade andcommunity matters as well as member events, the credit union saidin a statement.

Laffoon joined SSFCU in 1989 and has been executive vice president and chiefoperating officer since 2002. Over the years, he has served asprimary strategist, corporate planner, technologist and operationsmanager.

Laffoon has a bachelor's degree in business administration fromthe University of Texas and was a consultant with Arthur Andersen& Co. before joining SSFCU, the credit union said.
