The $586 million Freedom Credit Union said Friday that it hasprovided $650,000 in low interest rate loans to 670 of its membershit hard by Hurricane Sandy when the storm swept overPhiladelphia.
|The emergency relief loans were for up to $1,500 for 18 monthsand were approved quickly to allow members to begin their ownrecoveries from the mammoth storm, the credit union said in astatement.
|The credit union quoted one member, Janice Jones, a JeffersonHospital employee: “Words can't express enough my gratitude forthis service at such a time like this. Thank you again forall that you have done.”

Freedom CU set aside $2 million for the loan fund and said applicationsfor the loans will be taken until the fund is exhausted or Dec.31.
