Tablet Market Is Skyrocketing

Credit unions that adopt tablet-specific apps for their members are catering to a growing market.

According to the Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project, ownership of tablets has increased from 4% of American adults to 25% in the past two years.

That figure increases to 47% of households that earn $75,000 or more per year, the Pew Research Center said.

Education level also was a predictive factor in tablet ownership, the center’s survey found, but race and ethnicity was not.

The most recent Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project, Civic Engagement Tracking Survey was conducted July 16 – Aug. 7 among 2,253 adults ages 18 and older. Interviews were conducted in English and Spanish and on landline and cell phones (900 cell calls were completed) and the margin of error was plus or minus 2.3 percentage points, the Pew Research Center said.
