Louise Daniels Hinton, formerly of CAMPUS USA Credit Union in Gainesville, Fla., passed away last month at age 87.
Settling in Gainesville in 1953, Hinton began a long and successful career at the (University of Florida) Campus Federal Credit Union, now known as CAMPUS USA Credit Union. She was a self-taught manager and accountant. She grew the credit union through her innate business acumen and marketing skills, and held dual positions as CEO and board member. She served on the national and state credit union councils and lobbied in Washingtonwhen necessary to ensure the legislation that allowed the credit union business model to develop and thrive as a strong option for its membership. Hinton served as chairwomen of the Credit Union Executive Society and CEO of CAMPUS USA Credit Union until retiring in 1990.
She is preceded in death by her husband Charles. She is survived by her four children.
