The $2.1 billion, 188,800-member Coastal Federal Credit Union inRaleigh, N.C. has added check capture by smartphone to its mobileofferings.

The mobile banking app offers a deposit check option. Thesoftware then confirms the check value and then transmits it forprocessing. Members are asked to retain the paper check for 14 daysfor record- keeping and then destroy it.

Coastal is one of the first to use mobile check depositintegrated into APTRA Mobile Banking from NCR, the Duluth, Ga., company said. Coastal launched thatservice earlier this year and said it now has more than 9,000members signed up.

“Our members are really excited to have this mobile bankingplatform online and we see the adoption rate of this technologycontinuing to grow,” said Willard Ross, senior vice president andchief retail officer at Coastal.
