The $42 million Latitude 32 Credit Union said it is takingadvantage of the end of world predictions centered around the Mayancalendar.

The Charleston, S.C.-based cooperative is running an End of theWorld promotion that will forgive any auto loans made between Dec.3 and Dec. 21 – if the world ceases to exist.

|

“Many believe that the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar, orMayan Calendar predicts the end of the world to be Dec. 21,” saidBrad Rustin, CEO of Latitude 32. “We don't totally believe it atLatitude 32. But just in case, for those superstitious enough tobelieve it, we're offering the [promotion].”

The tongue in cheek offer has another benefit, Rustin noted.

|

“You'll still owe the balance on the loan, but you'll have peaceof mind knowing that you got a great rate on your auto loan from Latitude 32 Credit Union” Rustin said.

The credit union serves more than 8,000 members.
