CUNA is promising “fresh findings” on consumer attitudes towardholiday spending and household financial condition when it unveilsits annual survey on the topic, conducted in conjunction with theConsumer Federation of America. The information will bereleased at a press event Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. at theNational Press Club in Washington, and will feature the CFA'sExecutive Director Stephen Brobeck and CUNA Chief Economist BillHampel.

The survey, in its thirteenth year, documents a change inspending attitudes as compared to previous years “as the economycontinues to recover,” CUNA said in a release. Consumers alsocompared their financial situation to one year ago, and respondedto a new question asking if they have cash on hand to pay for anunexpected $1,000 expense. Findings will further include consumers'holiday spending plans and concern about paying off credit cardbalances.

Last year, 41% of consumers surveyed said they planned to spendless on Holiday gifts in 2011 than they did in 2010.
