The $5.6 billion, 356,000-member First Tech Federal Credit Unionin Palo Alto, Calif., said it has completed the installation of anew fleet of 114 customized ATMs.

The NCR machines include dip card readers and envelope-freedeposits that can take multiple checks and cash at one time andcheck images on printed receipts. Users also can set preferences,such as favorite fast cash amounts and receipts.

Some of the machines also have hooks for hanging handbags, coatsor dog leashes, and cup trays that double as a check-signingstation, First Tech said. Anti-fraud features include requiring a separate PIN validationfor each transaction.

“This prevents the common practice of walking away from the ATMwithout completely ending a session,” First Tech said in theannouncement.

“To us, this wasn't just a machine upgrade, but anexperience upgrade. Instead of flashy, non-functional features,we've created an ATM that is efficient, secure and allows ourmembers to make quick, monetary transactions and get on with theirdaily lives,” said Doug Marshall, the credit union's chiefmembership officer.

First Tech partnered with Atlanta-based NCR and Companion Systems of North Salt Lake,Utah, to customize and brand the new fleet. First Tech members canuse their ATMs and others in the CO-OP network free of fees.
