Charter Oak Federal Credit Union, Groton, Conn., has awarded $16,100 to nine local community groups as part of its third-quarter funding. Grant recipients included the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra, Hospice Southeastern Connecticut, Noank-Mystic Community Band, New London Youth Affairs, New London Community Orchestra, Thames River Family Program, Martin House Inc., Thread City Development Inc. and the Eastern Connecticut Ballet. Since the inception of the Community Giving Program in 2009, Charter Oak has given more than $500,000 to local community and non-profit groups.

Citadel Federal Credit Union, Exton, Pa., recently presented the Chester County Food Bank with a $10,000 donation. The donation benefits the Weekend Food Backpack program and the Raised Bed Gardens program. A team of Citadel employees also volunteered at the Chester County Food Bank packing backpacks and boxes and sorted nonperishable items to be distributed across the county.

Diamond Credit Union, Pottstown, Pa., announced that 10 Diamond employees volunteered at Shady Hollow Assisted Riding in Birdsboro, Pa. Shady Hollow is a nonprofit organization that  provides a supportive equine environment where individuals with physical, cognitive or emotional challenges can experience therapeutic, social and educational rewards. The volunteers helped to sand and varnish stall doors and wood in the barn with the help of supplies donated by local Lowes stores.
