Hurricane Sandy: Belvoir FCU Offers Relief to Members

In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, the $294 million, 27,000-member Belvoir Federal Credit Union has offered members emergency assistance.

To help alleviate members’ stress over finances, the Woodbridge, Va., credit union has extended a waiver and/or credit of fees for any late loan payment fee for consumer and home equity loans as well as overdraft fees.

The fees will be waived and/or credited for Monday and Tuesday, the credit union said.

“When Hurricane Sandy swept through our area, she left thousands without power and certain streets flooded. We are offering these emergency assistance options as a way to bring relief to our members,” said CEO Patricia Kimmel.

Members must contact the credit union before close of business on Nov. 7, the credit union said.
