The $1.4 billion Genisys Credit Union ofAuburn Hills, Mich., sponsored a seasonal highlight, the 12thannual Stonewall Pumpkin Festival at the Rochester Hills Museum atVan Hoosen Farm. Organizers said 750 people came to the site duringthe day on Oct. 13 to pick out a pumpkin to carve and then 750people again showed up that night to see 350 pumpkins light up thestone walls in the lighting ceremony.

GenisysCarves Pumpkins with the Community

AuburnHills, MI, October 26, 2012 – Genisys Credit Union was themajor sponsor for the 12th Annual Stonewall PumpkinFestival on Saturday, October 13, 2012, at the Rochester HillsMuseum at Van Hoosen Farm.

The eventattracted 750 people who picked their perfect pumpkins to carve atthis nationally registered historic site. Another 750 peopleattended later on that night for the lighting ceremony to see 350pumpkins lit up on the stone walls.

“This is a veryunique event that generates autumn excitement for people of allages,” said Jackie Buchanan, CEO. “Genisys has sponsored this eventfor several years now and is always excited to be involved withit.”

The Rochester Hills Museum sponsors a full dayof activities regarding a fall theme including pumpkin carving,pumpkin bowling, scarecrows, musical entertainment, book reading,crafts and pioneer games. In the evening, the carved pumpkins arelit and generate donated food, winter clothing and cash donationsfor the Rochester Neighborhood House.

“Our pumpkin festival is an event that requirescommunity participation to be successful,” said Patrick J. McKay,Supervisor of Interpretive Services at Rochester Hills Museum atVan Hoosen Farm. “From 120 volunteers and 1,500 guests to financialsponsors like Genisys Credit Union, they all allow an event likethis to take place and help to build community spirit, partnershipsand support for our local history museum. The event supports notonly the Rochester Hills Museum, but the Museum allows it tosupport the Rochester Neighborhood House too. Ultimately, thespirit behind the event is Genisys Credit Union.”

This is one ofthe many events throughout the year that Genisys sponsors at theRochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm and is the largest eventat this site, using 16 acres of grounds. Partnerships with DinosaurHill Nature Preserve, Rochester Junior Woman's Club, Woman'sNational Farm and Garden Club and Paint Creek Center for the Artsalso bring added value to the event.
