After two years of extensive research and analysis with membersand non-members across the nation, results showed the Ledge Light name didnot resonate well with prospective members or accurately portraythe credit union's values and mission, according to Scient FCU.

“We have experienced strong nationwide growth in the last fewyears due to the constant loyalty and support of our members,” saidScient FCU's president/ CEO, Bruce Fafard.

“In order to continue providing them with a vibrant creditunion, we realized we needed a name that was relatable to memberseverywhere; a name and brand that would deliver a solid foundationfor healthy, sustained growth,” Fafard said. “Scient Federal CreditUnion truly encompasses who we are as a member-owned financialinstitution, and the people we serve.”

This name change is not a result of a merger or acquisition, andit will not affect staff, accounts, or any credit unioninformation, the credit union said.

“While our name has changed, our values and dedication to eachand every member will remain,” said Fafard. “We promise to be therefor our members at every phase of their lives, providing servicesand support to help achieve their financial goals and dreams.”
