Credit unions scored a headliner for Wednesday's playgroundribbon cutting ceremony during the Republican National Convention: Ann Romney, wife of Republicanpresidential nominee Mitt Romney.

The ribbon cutting ceremony will unveil the charitable “leave behind” convention project, a therapeutic playground forAll Children's Hospital in Tampa, made possible by CUNA, the Leagueof Southeastern Credit Unions and National Journal Group.

The playground will serve young patients with special playequipment designed for the rehabilitation process.

“America's credit unions are honored to have Ms. Romney attendthis important event that so vividly demonstrates credit unions'involvement in their communities and their philosophy of 'peoplehelping people,'” said CUNA President/CEO Bill Cheney.

The playground renovation was made possible through fundraising and volunteer efforts spearheaded by theSoutheastern Credit Union Foundation, in conjunction with CUNA,which has a history of leave-behind projects in conjunction withthe National Party conventions. National Journal Group haspartnered with CUNA for the last two conventions on leave-behindprojects.
