Credit unions scored a headliner for Wednesday's playgroundribbon cutting ceremony during the Republican National Convention: Ann Romney, wife of Republicanpresidential nominee Mitt Romney.
|The ribbon cutting ceremony will unveil the charitable “leave behind” convention project, a therapeutic playground forAll Children's Hospital in Tampa, made possible by CUNA, the Leagueof Southeastern Credit Unions and National Journal Group.
|The playground will serve young patients with special playequipment designed for the rehabilitation process.
|“America's credit unions are honored to have Ms. Romney attendthis important event that so vividly demonstrates credit unions'involvement in their communities and their philosophy of 'peoplehelping people,'” said CUNA President/CEO Bill Cheney.
|The playground renovation was made possible through fundraising and volunteer efforts spearheaded by theSoutheastern Credit Union Foundation, in conjunction with CUNA,which has a history of leave-behind projects in conjunction withthe National Party conventions. National Journal Group haspartnered with CUNA for the last two conventions on leave-behindprojects.
