More than 1,000 of the 219,700 members of the $2.3 billion Virginia Credit Union deposited a check using their smartphones in July, the Richmond, Va., credit union said.

That's the most in a month since VACU began offering mobile remote deposit capture in April, the credit union said.

VACU now has 1,500 members signed up to use the service, which was deployed using technology from VSoft Corp. of Atlanta, the credit union said.
