Be it lunch at a local deli or a shopping at a neighborhoodstore, Michigan's credit unions are being called on to show theirsupport of small businesses with actual cash.

The CU Lunch Local promotion, a statewide cash mob, will kick off Oct. 16, just in time for InternationalCredit Union Week, according to Michigan CU Capital, which will be providing some marketingcollateral for credit unions to print, display, and use for theevent.

“Every dollar spent makes a difference when it goes to localbusiness; and participating is as simple as stopping at a Michiganowned business for your morning cup of coffee or ordering lunch infrom your locally owned deli,” MI CU Capital.

The group is promoting the event on its Facebook page. Creditunions can join the event by logging on to the page where membersand their local communities will know that they are participatingin CU Lunch Local.

Credit unions can also submit stories and pictures at http://www.facebook.com/MICUCapitalor via Instagram and Twitter using the hashtag #culunchlocal duringthe event.
