An 8-year-old, wheelchair bound Chesapeake, Va., girl now hasher own playset, specially accessible for her, thanks to a localBoy Scout troop, church and the We Promise Foundation, thefoundation of the $1.9 billion Chartway Federal Credit Union inVirginia Beach.

Nadia Zaichenko was born with spina bifida and has been unableto play on most playgrounds until now. A community effort wasstarted to help her and the final $1,500 of the $7,000 effort camefrom the foundation. Enough in donations came in, in fact, to alsopay for the installation of wheelchair paths to give Nadia morefreedom around her new playset.

“It brings us great joy to know that because of theincredible generosity of this community, Nadia will be able toenjoy the simple childhood moments that she has dreamed of,” saidJohn Blum, chairman of the We Promise Foundation. “We arehonored to be able to give her the gift of play and mobility thatevery child deserves.”
