As part of their MADTAG (Make a Difference. Tag, You’re It!) campaign, credit unions across the state have awarded mini-grants of $100 to 20 South Carolinians with the best small community project ideas, according to the Greenville, S.C.-based credit union consulting firm Your Marketing Co.
MADTAG organizers selected the 20 grant recipients after entrants posted their thoughts on how they’d use $100 to make an impact in their communities on the MADTAG Facebook page.
Winning ideas include organizing a cookout and field trip to a water park for children’s home residents, buying new neighborhood recreational equipment for local children in the Upstate, creating a memorial for a fallen Upstate soldier who served in Afghanistan, contributing to the restoration of the Dunmore House for African-American heritage in Georgetown, S.C., and purchasing food for a food pantry in Columbia, S.C.
The mini-grant giveaway follows the MADTAG Great Gas Giveaway held in February, for which South Carolina credit unions provided free gas to several hundred drivers in the state.
The MADTAG campaign was launched with seed money from the S.C. Credit Union League’s Media Committee.
