The We Promise Foundation, a charitable arm of the $2 billionChartway Federal Credit Union in Virginia Beach, Va., raised $7.068in its recent third annual celebrity handbag auction. Using eBay'scharity auction site, 43 items were sold, including handbagsdonated by actresses Melanie Griffith and Eva Longoria, a guitarsigned by country music star Taylor Swift and a pair of game cleatsworn by soccer star Landon Donovan.
|“We are grateful for the support of 43 generous celebrities anddesign houses, and for the enthusiasm of our bidders,” said JohnBlum, Chairman of the We Promise Foundation, which said it hasraised nearly $4 million since 1999 to make dreams come true forchildren struggling with life-threatening or chronicillnesses.
