Cardtronics announced Thursday that it is deploying what'sbeing billed as the world's smallest ATM, NCR's new SelfServ14.

The SelfServ 14, about the size of a toaster oven, can run NCR'sAPTRA software, which enables customers to use a single softwaresystem across their entire network.

“Cardtronics was uniquely qualified to provide NCR withmeaningful marketplace feedback as it worked to pack the featuresof larger SelfServ ATMs into a more compact and affordable modelfor off-premise deployments,” said Rick Updyke, president,Cardtronics U.S. group. “The NCR SelfServ 14 retains upscalefunctionalities such as screen advertising, enabling Cardtronics todeliver its value proposition to a wider audience ofmerchants.”

Cardtronics said it now provides access to credit unions to its53,000 U.S. ATMs through switches to the credit union-owned CO-OPFinancial Services and Credit Union 24, and offers surcharge freeservices to hundreds of credit unions through its Allpointnetwork.

The NCRSelfServ 14 features the same look and feel as NCR's biggerSelfServ 16 and features up to three 2,000-note cassettes, and a10-inch color LCD display, the company said.
