The Credit Union League of Connecticut said its 2011 SprintDiscount Program was a success again this year, with 40 creditunions receiving marketing incentive checks for participating.

Seventeen individuals gathered at the CULC headquarters thisweek to celebrate sharing a total savings of more than $78,000. Theleague said the effort showed again the value of participating innoninterest income opportunities to help boost membership, enhancemember relations and reduce costs.

For the 2010-2011 program year, Sprint reported that creditunion members nationally saved more than $158 million in cell phoneequipment and services.

“The Sprint program keeps growing every year,” said Nick Moalli,the league's assistant vice president for Credit UnionServices.

“When credit unions realize that they can help their members byproviding real savings on a practical service while gaining alittle advantage of their own, they'll see that programs like thisone easily become an integral part of providing total financialservices that members benefit from far into the future,” Moallisaid.
