The way to a young man’s heart, and his mom’s, is through giving him a new mountain bike. That’s what brought a big smile to Billy Dowd’s face at a recent Community Appreciation Day put on by GFA FCU of Gardner, Mass., at its Rutland branch. Billy’s shown here flanked by GFA member service rep Sue Richard on the left and his mom, Wendy Dowd, on the right. The Dowds won the bicycle in a drawing. Hot dogs, sno-cones, a moonwalk and other activities for the kids helped make the recent event a success. “As a locally based financial institution, it is important to us that we show our members and communities how much we appreciate them,” said Tina Sbrega, president/CEO of the 20,000-member, $336 million GFA FCU.
