NCUA Employees Praise Agency’s Performance
It may not merit a mention by David Letterman but a survey of government employees placed the NCUA on the top 10 list in three of four government performance categories.
In the annual Federal Employees Viewpoint Survey, the NCUA ranked in the top 10 for talent management, results-oriented performance culture, and job satisfaction. It didn’t rank in the top 10 for “leadership and knowledge and management,” but was cited for improvement over last year. Almost 50% of all federal employees responded to the survey, and the response rate was the same for NCUA employees. The survey included responses from employees of 37 government agencies.
On having a results-oriented performance culture, the agency ranked fourth, behind the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the Federal Trade Commission and NASA. Last year, the agency ranked 10th.
The NCUA was tied for fifth in the category of job satisfaction with the Federal Trade Commission and the Office of Personnel Management. Last year, the agency was ranked 11th.
The agency was ranked sixth for talent management, the same as last year.
Office of Personnel Management Director John Berry said in a statement that performance management “continues to persist as a problem area across the government.”
NCUA Chairman Debbie Matz said she was pleased with the results.
“When I came on as chairman in 2009, one of my top five goals was for NCUA to be recognized as an employer of choice,” she said in a statement. “I am pleased to see that this survey shows significant improvements over previous years. We will take these results, continue to improve the workplace environment, and make NCUA as effective and efficient as possible.”
