Brooklyn native and former star baseball pitcher John Franco will continue to be the official spokesperson for Municipal Credit Union.
Franco became MCU’s first spokesperson in January of this year. According to Steve Kibitel, vice president of marketing at MCU, the initial campaign has resulted in greater visibility and brand awareness.
“Recently our members have continually remarked about how proud they are to see MCU and John Franco everywhere they go. This positive feedback from our membership is a testament to both John’s popularity amongst New Yorkers and to the quality of the campaign that we have put together as a whole,” said Kibitel.
Franco, a major league pitcher for 22 seasons, was recently recognized by Mayor Michael Bloomberg as the “Son of New York City Baseball.” The former New York Met was drafted out of St. John’s University and is a graduate of Lafayette High School in Brooklyn.
As part of the agreement he will continue to be featured in MCU’s advertising campaign on television and in other media, in addition to his public appearances on behalf of the over $1.6 million credit union.

New campaigns featuring Franco, created by Vanguard Direct in New York City, have been slated for 2012.
