Navy Federal Credit Union has added an Android app to its mobilebanking offerings.

Now available in the Android Market, the app was created byEffectiveUI, the Denver design and development firm that alsoproduced the $46 billion credit union's iPhoneapp last year.

Functions include balances, recent transactions, transfers,interest rate and payment calculators and branch and ATM locators,as well as a currency converter targeted for military personnel touse while stationed overseas.

“The Android app is the next step in our mobile strategy as welook to make it easier for our members to manage their Navy Federalaccounts,” said Julie Griffin, Navy Federal's vice president ofeServices. “Because member convenience is one of our toppriorities, it was important that we focus on making the app asuseful, simple and seamless as possible.”

The new app already has been downloaded 20,000 times, the 3.7million member, 217-branch credit union said.
