The $51 million Community Credit Union of Southern Humboldt in Garberville, Calif., has converted its core processing to the i-POWER system from EPL Inc. of Birmingham, Ala.
The conversion was the fourth in her career for CEO Shon Wellborn. “The issues that came up were resolved immediately, and while there’s a learning curve on any new system, i-POWER is easy to learn and once you figure out where things are the workflow is intuitive,” she said.
“In the past I would have given anything for access to IT staff. Now I have a whole team that lives in Alabama and supports us and responds to us and it’s all included in the price,” Wellborn said.
The 4,900-member Community CU of Southern Humboldt began operations in the heart of the California redwoods in 1980. It had been running on a Fiserv CUSA platform, according to the Technology Survey from Callahan & Associates.
Credit union-owned EPL said it now serves 135 credit unions across the country.
