American Heritage Has American Hero

American Heritage Federal Credit Union has a local hero on staff.

Lynnette Heary, who is assistant branch manager at the Philadelphia-based credit union, helped save a local resident during a house fire.

Heary was on her lunch break taking a walk through the neighborhood around the Horsham branch when she noticed an older woman trapped upside-down under her wheel chair at the bottom of the cement stairs in front of her home.

Heary rushed to the woman’s aid only to notice the house was quickly going up in flames. The woman informed Heary that her family lived across the street, but she was too disoriented to locate the correct house. Immediately, Heary called 911 and began knocking on doors to locate the woman’s family. She then stayed with the woman until the police and fire department arrived.

Horsham police later thanked Heary for her bravery.
