Golden 1 Credit Union Joins VITA Effort

The $7.8 billion Golden 1 Credit Union, headquartered in Sacramento, will have staff on hand to open accounts and introduce the credit union to people who file their taxes with volunteer assistance.

The credit union has joined the Sacramento and Salinas Coalition for Working Families' effort to offer Volunteer Income Tax Assistance at tax preparation events this spring.

"Giving back to our communities is a natural extension of the credit union philosophy of people helping people," says Donna A. Bland, Golden 1 CEO. "Providing this service free of charge is another way we show our support to the diverse communities we serve."

The CU said its staff will be on site at the events in Sacramento and Salinas to talk about products and resources, open free checking accounts and discuss options for depositing and saving any anticipated tax refunds. --dmorrison@cutimes.com
