The $700 million Whatcom Educational Credit Union's business department was recently named lender of the year by the Northwest Business Development Association.
Based in Bellingham, Wash., WECU was recognized for its service to the Northwest Washington area. Kent Bouma, business services manager, accepted the award at the NWBDA's annual meeting and awards luncheon in December.
NWBDA is a certified development company that helps provide financing to small businesses in Washington and parts of Idaho and Oregon.
WECU serves nearly 64,000 members.
