O Bee Credit Union of Tumwater, Wash., will give away $15,000 and five iPads to the winners of its Capture the Tag contest, co-sponsored by TwinStar Credit Union and the Washington State Department of Financial Institutions, among others.
Created to foster financial education and local commerce, the promotion will require contestants to use their smartphones to scan "tags," or barcodes, at participating businesses and watch videos containing money tips and clues to the location of the next tag. Stores can offer discounts or incentives as part of the contest, but participants are not required to make any purchases. Clues and contest information will also be posted on Facebook, Twitter and the co-sponsors' websites.
Participants who have collected all 30 tags by the end of the contest will be invited to a Tag Party and entered to win $10,000, $3,000, $2,000 or an iPad.
