The program is intended for students and families seekingprivate student loans to help them cover the cost of college afterthey have maximized scholarships, grants and federalassistance.

With the Smart Option Student Loan, students make payments whilein school and graduate with less debt than those who make nopayments until after graduation. The loans are underwritten, fundedand serviced by Sallie Mae; participating CUs serve as a referralpoint via a link on their website.
