Maine credit union members who use iPhones now have access to an app that can help them locate surcharge-free ATMs nearby.
The app directs credit union members to ATMs belonging to the SURF ATM Alliance, a network of more than 200 surcharge-free ATMs throughout Maine.
"While in the past you would have needed to plan ahead if you wanted to access a SURF location, with this application, members will have live information regarding SURF locations and won't need to rely on accessing the first ATM terminal that they see," said Rebekah Higgins, assistant vice president for Synergent Card Services, which administers the SURF ATM Alliance.
She added that this new convenience is one more way Synergent is making it easier for members to access surcharge-free ATMs wherever their travels take them.
"Synergent's commitment to the growth and integrity of SURF has contributed to the long term success of the network," she said. "Credit unions continue to add ATM terminal locations in new geographic locations that allow even more coverage and access to credit union cardholders."
