Michigan Family In Home Thanks To CU

CP Federal Credit Union helped make Tina Greer's dream of a new home for her five children a reality.

The 35-year old widower is the lucky winner of the Jackson, Mich.-based credit union's Wish Upon A Home giveaway.

The Greer family's new home will be 1,780 square-feet with four bedrooms, hardwood floors, a patio and a fenced-in yard. It was a foreclosed home that the credit union got back from one of its members. Recognizing that it would be a great family home and taking a cue from Dort Federal Credit Union, which has had similar giveaways, CP Federal saw an opportunity to offer the gift of home ownership.

In addition to meeting certain income requirements applicants had to live in Jackson County and be in need of adequate, affordable housing.

The widowed mom and her five children, ranging from age 3 to 14, have been living in a deteriorating mobile home. The home was awarded under a mortgage agreement that will require Greer to live in the home for five years after which she'll own it free.
