Pioneer West Virginia FCU New CEO Eyes Expansion

Pioneer West Virginia Federal Credit Union announced that is has appointed a new CEO.

Dana Rawlings was hired at Pioneer after working for seven years at Smart Financial Credit Union in Houston, Texas as chief operating officer.

In his new role, Rawlings said he will look to expand the credit union's reach.

"We have four counties we serve that we don't have representation in. I will look to maximize our electronic services and create branches in those areas over time."

Rawlings currently serves as a member on the CUNA Lending Council and has written articles in national publications. Though West Virginia has an 8.6% unemployment rate, which is lower than the national average, Rawlings said like many credit unions Pioneer has experience deposit growth while loan volume is stagnant.
