Navy Federal Floats iPhone App

Navy Federal Credit Union's new iPhone app was downloaded more than 10,000 times in its first two weeks, the $41 billion, 3.4 million member credit union said.

The mobile banking application includes an interest rate alert for members waiting for the best moment to apply for a loan and an exchange calculator aimed at helping its global membership navigate local currencies.

That's in addition to account balances, recent transactions and transfer capabilities.

The app was created by EffectiveUI, a Denver-based provider of custom Web, mobile and desktop applications for a client list that includes National Geographic, eBay, GE Health and Qwest Communications.
