Affinity FCU Readying RDC Launch

Remote-deposit capture will soon be offered to the entire membership of the $2 billion Affinity Federal Credit Union, Basking Ridge, N.J., the credit union said.

Beta testing is under way with a rollout expected in the first quarter of 2010, said Roland Plante, the credit union's assistant vice president of consulting services.

The 128,000-member credit union is using a solution it created in partnership with Integrated Media Management of Linden, N.J., a provider of Check 21 and other document management solutions to more than 600 credit unions and banks.

"We have approximately 3,500 business members and we wanted to serve them more efficiently, as well as increase penetration with our overall member base, so we sought a company that offered remote deposit capture for consumers and merchants," Plante said.

Affinity already uses IMM's teller item capture software in its 20-branch operation, he said.

Nish Shah, chief technology officer at IMM, said, "Affinity has automated its check process by creating an entirely electronic work flow right from point of presentment to an endpoint, while electronically consolidating all deposited checks regardless of the channel it originated from to create a truly paperless environment."
