SE Corporate Announces CEO Birdwell's Retirement

Southeast Corporate Federal Credit Union has announced CEO Bill Birdwell's February 2010 retirement, which will coincide with his 65th birthday, and the resulting search for his replacement.

Birdwell's 30 year plus credit union career includes positions at Southwest Corporate Federal Credit Union, Western Corporate Federal Credit Union and Volunteer Corporate Credit Union.

"His leadership within the industry has had a positive impact and will be sorely missed," said Southeast board chairman Tim McMurry. McMurry called Birdwell a "true craftsman" of corporate credit unions.

Birdwell is an avid angler and photographer and said his plans call for spending more time on the water, as well as with family and friends.

McMurry, president/CEO of Tampa, Fla.-based PowerNet Credit Union, said an active search is underway for Birdwell's replacement, and the board hopes to announce a new CEO by year-end.
