Florida State University Credit Union, Tallahassee, Fla., announced the grand opening of its Evening Rose branch. Attendees of the ribbon-cutting ceremony were given reusable grocery bags and treated to refreshments. FSU Credit Union's new branch, its sixth overall, is the first financial institution in the region built to the specifications of the national LEED-certification program. The lobby and drive-thru will offer a range of financial services including savings, checking, money management, IRAs and share certificates, plus new and used automobile, mortgage, vacation, holiday and home equity line of credit loans.
SPIRE Federal Credit Union, Minneapolis, opened its Eden Prairie branch with a celebration featuring former Minnesota Twin and Hall of Famer Harmon Killebrew. Approximately 300 people attended the event, which included food, games, a magician and an autograph session with Killebrew. The new location at 8577 Columbine Road is now open for business.
Black Hills Federal Credit Union, Rapid City, S.D., hosted grand-opening festivities at its newest member service center in the Custer Pamida. The ribbon-cutting ceremony, held in conjunction with Pamida's grand opening, was attended by local dignitaries and guests. BHFCU's new facility will provide Custer-area residents and businesses with a drive-up teller, 24-hour ATM and a full range of financial products and services. Two offices will provide privacy for members wishing to open accounts, secure financing, or learn more about mortgage programs or business services.
US Airways Credit Union, Tempe, Ariz., held a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house to celebrate the grand re-opening of its newly remodeled branch in the US Airways corporate headquarters building. Attendees could sign up for drawings for cash and prizes, while the credit union promoted its new SkyHigh Rewards checking account. In addition, new members who opened an account received a gift of $50.
Pen Air Federal Credit Union, Pensacola, Fla., celebrated the grand opening of its NAS Whiting Field branch. The event began with a welcome speech from NAS Whiting Field Commanding Officer Captain Enrique L. Sadsad, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, invocation, and remarks from Pen Air FCU President/CEO Ron Fields as well as Santa Rosa County Commissioner Don Salter. After a ribbon-cutting ceremony presided over by Capt. Sadsad, TRAWING 5 Commodore Col. John Scott Walsh, Ron Fields and Don Salter, and other guests were invited to a reception and to tour the new facilities.
Memphis Area Teachers' Credit Union, Memphis, Tenn., has opened a branch at 1105 N. Houston Levee, Suite 101. A small reception and ribbon-cutting ceremony was held. Members of MATCU's board of directors and executive staff were present, along with local business owners Chris Wicher of Emack & Bolio's ice cream shop and Brian Lurie of Mama Mia's Pizzeria, who supplied food for the reception. Also in attendance was Shelby County Mayor A.C. Wharton, who gave a speech and cut the ribbon.
Visions Federal Credit Union, Endicott, N.Y., announced the grand opening of it newest branch located in Vestal near the University Plaza apartment complex, which provides off-campus housing for students of Binghamton University. The branch's exterior includes a full-size goal post sign featuring Binghamton University colors. The 3,800-square-foot interior features free Wi-Fi, several large flat-screen TVs, a music caf?, and four full-service ATMs. The branch will be open for business Monday through Saturday.
