Parks Retiring as CEO of South Carolina League

Garry Parks, the president/CEO of the South Carolina Credit Union League, the last five years, is retiring at year-end with a search committee being formed to recruit his replacement, it was disclosed this week.

Parks, a retired U.S. Marine Corp. deputy commandant, announced his retirement plans in a letter sent to his staff. His contract with the league expires in August and it was noted that his trade group responsibilities had changed earlier this year with the switch of the league's processing subsidiary, Palmetto Coop Services to become an LLC.

Under the management shuffling, Ed Culpepper, chief financial officer of Palmetto, would become the interim president/CEO of the subsidiary; Parks will remain a director. As an LLC, Palmetto hopes to expand its investment and capital reach into new technology and services outside of South Carolina, officials said.
