Verizon Renews Bill Pay

Fiserv Inc. said one of its largest customers, wireless giant Verizon Communications, has signed a multiyear extension for the company's electronic bill pay solution.
Under the agreement, Verizon's more than 100 million wireless and landline customers can continue to view and pay their bills from a Verizon Web site or one of more than 3,000 credit unions and banks that use Wisconsin-based Fiserv for bill pay.
"Over the years, we have worked diligently with CheckFree, and now Fiserv, to simplify the management of our electronic billing and payment capabilities, and to make it possible to increase the convenience of this environmentally friendly practice among many customers," said Angeline DePauw, New York-based Verizon's director of bill processing.
The relationship between Verizon and CheckFree began in 1999. In addition to the financial institutions, there are more than 11,000 retail locations now offering CheckFreePay walk-in bill payments, and the service is also provided via voice response.
