American First CU Loses Exec to Accident

LA HABRA, Calif. -- American First Credit Union is mourning the loss of Vice President of Human Resources Catherine Busse, who died at the age of 46 after sustaining injuries from a bicycle accident.

On Sunday, Oct. 12, Busse and her 14-year old son, Sam, were hit by a truck while riding bicycles in Seal Beach, Calif. Her son was released from the hospital with minor cuts and bruises. Busse's organs were donated, benefiting eight individuals.

"Cathy was a 20-year credit union industry veteran. Her warm spirit touched everyone she met. Her energy could light up a room," said American First CU President/CEO Bob Street. "Cathy worked for American First for four years and was one of the top human resource executives in our industry. [She was] guided by her keen intellect, extensive knowledge and strength of character. She will be missed by all who knew her."

The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the "Busse Family Special Needs Trust" care of: St. Anne's Catholic Church, 340 10th St., Seal Beach, CA 90740.
