Wright-Patt Sets Savings Race Rivals

FAIRBORN, Ohio -- Wright-Patt Credit Union revealed the five competitors in its Savings Race yesterday.

The five families were chosen from more than 80 credit union applicants and will work with a coach to improve their spending and savings habits. The family will work toward a savings goal, improve net worth and reduce debt. The family that comes the closest to its set goal will win $10,000. The runner-up families will each receive $2,000.

"The Savings Race was designed to benefit not only the participants, but the entire Miami Valley," said Doug Fecher, president/CEO of Wright-Patt. "Individual personal debt in the United States has never been higher. We're saving less for ourselves than ever. Our credit scores are under attack, and significant financial events are creeping up on us."

Community members can follow the race through blogs, Web updates, local news vignettes and can attend free Wright-Patt financial planning courses along side Savings Race participants.
