PROVO, Utah -- Utah Community Credit Union and Utah Valley University have worked together to offer students a card with keyless building access, a bus pass, access to athletic events and a Visa debit card all in one.
The program was engineered by Runge and Co., a consulting firm that specializes in card issuance systems.
The OneCard Plus can be issued to students, faculty and staff at Utah Community's Utah Valley University campus branch.
The card supports a contactless chip-based door access system and Greenbucks campus purchases that includes discount-dining services on campus. The card user can add Visa debit and ATM capability by linking the card to a credit union checking account.
"UVU will be the first school to offer such an array of features and technologies in a campus card," said Erik Runge, president of Runge.
Jeff Sermon, president/CEO of Utah Community, said that Runge was instrumental in creating a partnership between the credit union and the university.
"Runge helped structure a financial relationship that includes a revenue plan to build student participant and maximize card usage, as well as scholarships, internships and campus sponsorships," Sermon said.
