Apple Named Teachers' Pet

FAIRFAX, Va. -- Apple Federal Credit Union has been recognized by Prince William County Public Schools as the business partner of the year.

The credit union was honored for its financial education efforts with students at Featherstone Elementary School and Freedom High School.

Apple FCU was singled out for its dedication to education, from its student-run credit union program to providing age-specific financial education and literacy presentations covering a variety of savings and money management topics. In addition, early in 2008, Featherstone students were able to get hands-on credit union experience during a special field trip organized by Apple's Woodbridge Branch Manager Maria Larkin. Freedom students experienced a dose of reality during Apple's budgeting basics Reality Store exercise and credit card education seminar.

Apple was one of three organizations to receive partnership of the year honors, proving Prince William's declaration that "Excellent Schools are Everyone's Business."
