Apple Federal Credit Union Expands Student Program to Two More Schools

FAIRFAX, Va. -- Apple Federal Credit Union's student run credit union program can now be found in two more schools.

Falls Church High School and Dominion High School are the latest additions to the credit union's roster of academic partners, expanding its financial education opportunities to 34 Northern Virginia schools.

According to Apple FCU, its SRCU program, which stretches across five Northern Virginia districts and includes two middle schools and three elementary schools, is the largest national high school program within the credit union industry.

Each SRCU serves as an education tool, providing students with real-world financial literacy and the opportunity to explore future employment prospects, while developing an understanding of money, conceptually and in practice. Additionally, Apple's program provides assistance with the development of financial education curriculum within the schools it serves.

The Apple FCU model is the basis of national curriculum for Future Business Leaders of America and the National Association of Secondary School Principals. The program has also been the recipient of many honors, including CUNA's Desjardins youth financial education award and the Virginia Credit Union League's visionary award for overall achievement and outstanding contributions to the credit union movement.
