MADISON, Wis.-- June 2 is this year's deadline for the World Council of Credit Unions' scholarship program, which will send five industry professionals to its 2009 World Credit Union Conference in Barcelona, Spain, all expenses paid.
The Young Credit Union People scholarship program seeks individuals 35 years of age or younger who have already made significant contributions to the development of their own credit unions, regional or national credit union systems and have demonstrated the potential to employ their unique talents at the international level. WOCCU members are encouraged to nominate their young leaders.
To be eligible for the scholarship, nominees must: be sponsored by their credit union or industry organization to attend WOCCU's 2008 World Credit Union Conference in Hong Kong in July; be 35 years of age or younger as of Jan. 1, 2008; and submit a completed nomination form with all the necessary supporting materials to WOCCU no later than June 2, 2008.
All WYCUP nominees, regardless of award status, will be formally recognized in Hong Kong. Registrants within this age group also qualify for a discounted registration fee regardless of whether or not they compete for the scholarship.
