LATHAM, N.Y. — Melrose Credit Union recently held its 86th annual membership meeting and featured guest speaker was State Assembly Banks Committee Chair Darryl Towns (D-Metropolitan).

Assemblyman Towns spoke to the gathering about his whole-hearted support of credit unions and how the efforts they put forth in their communities have earned appreciation not only in his district, but across the state as well. He told the group that the more he learns about credit unions, the more impressed and supportive he is of their not-for-profit status. Assemblyman Towns also spoke optimistically about the health and welfare of New York State government in the capable hands of newly appointed Gov. David A. Paterson.

"With over 900 members in attendance and Assemblyman Towns presence and words of support for credit unions, I believe that this annual meeting may have been one of our best yet," said Melrose CU CEO/Treasurer Alan Kaufman.
