Credit Union Cup Awarded

WASHINGTON-- Runners from the office of Sen. Ken Salazar (D-Col.) received the Credit Union Cup for having finished first among Capitol Hill teams in last month's Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10-Mile Run.

The annual race, which raised $1 million for the Children's Miracle Network, is sponsored by CUNA, NAFCU, U.S. Senate Federal Credit Union and the Wright Patman Congressional Federal Credit Union.

Salazar's team, called Ken's Salad Bar, finished the race in 3:26:43. The runner-up team on the Senate side was Runn-Lugar, from the office of Sen. Richard Lugar (R-Ind.), which completed the race in 3:39:34. The third-place Senate team was Team Nelson, from the office of Sen. Ben E. Nelson (D-Neb.), which finished the race in 3:44:58.

The top House-side finisher was Red White and Blumenauer, from the office of Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.), which had a time of 3:43:03. The other leading House finishers were the Invisible Hand, from the office of Rep. Paul E. Ryan (R-Wis.) and On Your Markey, from the office of Rep. Ed Markey (D-Mass). Ryan's and Markey's teams finished in 3:55:45 and 4:03:06, respectively.

More than 50 teams containing almost 400 staff members from House and Senate offices participated in the race. Overall, about 12,000 runners participated in the event.
