Deadline Nears for WYCUP Scholarship Program

MADISON, Wis. -- The World Council of Credit Unions is urging applicants for the Young Credit Union People Scholarship Program to submit their completed nomination materials as the June 2 deadline is approaching.

Winners of the scholarship program qualify for an all-expenses-paid trip to WOCCU's 2009 World Credit Union Conference in Barcelona, Spain. To be eligible nominees must, be sponsored by their credit union or credit union organizations to attend WOCCU's 2008 World Credit Union Conference in Hong Kong in July, be 35 years of age or younger as of Jan. 1, 2008 and submit a completed nomination form with all the necessary supporting materials to WOCCU no later than June 2, 2008.

WOCCU states that the WYCUP Scholarship Program seeks individuals who "have already made significant contributions to the development of their own credit unions, regional or national credit union systems and have demonstrated the potential to employ their unique talents at the international level."

The scholarship will be awarded to five recipients at the 2008 conference in Hong Kong. All WYCUP nominees regardless of award status will be formally recognized in Hong Kong and invited to take part in events organized specifically for participants 35 years of age and younger, including a networking sessions.
