FORT WORTH, Texas — Unity One Federal Credit Union went a littlewild to mark financial literacy month.

The North Tarrant branch hosted a slew of zoo animals from theFort Worth Zoo Wild Wonders outreach program. UKid and Team UnityClub members (ages 0–17) and their friends got up close andpersonal to learn about an alligator, giant marine toad, hyacinthmacaw, spectacled owl, black-footed penguin and chinchilla. Thevisiting penguin made sure she saw all parts of the branch, as herhandlers let her freely walk around and mingle. Thanks to Cub ScoutPack 418, the popcorn and juice flowed freely.

The Northside branch hosted the fifth birthday party for UnityOne's mascot zebra, Max. Max and over 20 of his friends weretreated to face painting and balloon shapes from Cloey the Clown, asidewalk chalk coloring contest, a bounce house and plenty ofcake.

The Campus branch or credit union headquarters gave youngmembers a behind-the-scenes look at credit union operations. Theytoured the main member areas, the vault, behind the teller line andthe back-office space. Each guest was given a $2 bill, courtesy ofUnity One FCU.

Even the St. Paul, Minn. branch, which rarely receives youngvisitors due to its downtown location, had coloring sheets andplenty of crayons available. Staff also took this time to getfamiliar with the National Endowment for Financial Education HighSchool Financial Planning Program materials for future high schoolpresentations.
